The International Journal of Emerging Technologies
and Society (iJETS), formerly The Australian
Journal of Emerging Technologies and Society (AJETS),
is a multi-disciplinary
journal, focusing on the complex relationship between
science and technology and their wider socio-cultural
contexts. Perhaps more importantly, iJETS is designed
as a forum for informed discussion and debate about
the role of technology in society, drawing on a variety
of viewpoints from all branches of the social and
behavioural sciences and humanities.
As a web-only publication iJETS offers several
benefits not normally found in print-based journals.
For authors, iJETS provides a peer-reviewed outlet
for scholarly papers, without the long lag between
submission and publication. The pace of technological
development is so rapid that in many cases pieces
published in traditional media are outdated by they
time they reach the reader. A web-based journal can
circumvent this to some extent, with the submission-to-publication
timeframes being as short as two months in some cases.
